Yellow Color day (MI)

It was a visual delight to see the little ones all dressed up in yellow. They were shown yellow color objects around them on the occasion.

D-Drum (carry home activity) (MI)

Little ‘Dd’ was introduced to the children with the help of ‘Dd’ related objects and activities which was enjoyable and informative too.

Concept Big and small (MI)

Children enjoyed understanding the concept of big and small with the help of activities that made learning fun.

Intro of no-3 (MI)

Number 3 was introduced to the little ones with the help of activities that engaged the kids and made learning easier. They were shown the related number of objects and were asked to count them.

Story time (MIII)

Story telling session is a wonderful way to share the joy of reading. It improves language skills, vocabulary, sequencing, comprehension and recall. Story telling session stimulates the imagination giving the children plenty to think about.

Writing of “at” and “ad” words (MIII)

An important stage in learning to read is the mastery of small words especially words in the format consonant /vowel/consonant. Children enjoyed learning new words on slates.

Three Butterflies –Puppet show (MI, MII, MIII)

The puppet story adds meaning to the real practical event. The story was enlivened with the help of gestures and voice modulation which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Little chef activity (MI, MII, MIII)

Children enjoyed topping the Monaco biscuits with grated cheese and a dash of tomato ketchup in the most creative manner they could. They plated the biscuits beautifully and were simply thrilled with their own creativity.

Introduction of triangle (MI)

Teaching about shapes is an important part of the preschool curriculum. Children were shown triangle shape objects to enable them to learn.

Carry home activity (MI)

Children enjoyed making letter boxes as a carry home activity which was not only fun but was also a great way to learn about the concept of communication.

Community helper game (MI, MII,MIII)

Children enjoyed learning about community helpers with the help of a game which helped them to realize about their importance.

Intro of letter E (MI)

Letter “E” was introduced to the little ones with the help of ‘E’ related objects which they immensely enjoyed.

Tracing on slates and tracing with paint (MII)

Tracing on slates and tracing with paint are innovative and fun based techniques of teaching children to write numbers and letters.

Theme party (MI, MII, MIII)

Teaching young children about community helpers is a popular unit and for good reason. They love to dress up and do what they see adults do. Children enjoyed dressing up as community helpers and spoke related lines which was extremely informative and enriching too.

Show and tell (MII)

Children enjoyed the Show and Tell session where they spoke a few lines on ‘Sensory organs’ with confidence.

Planting a seed (MII,MIII)

Children enjoyed planting the seeds under the guidance of their teachers which gave them an opportunity to understand what living things need to live and thrive on .They were explained that for the seeds to grow into plants, the requirements are water ,sunlight ,correct temperature, ample space and the right proportion of nutrients.

Introduction –Letter B (MI)

Letter-B was introduced to our little ones with the help of ‘B’ related objects such as bell and bear which they immensely enjoyed.

Sprout salad (MIII)

Children enjoyed making the sprouted salad and were told about the various health benefits on the human body.

Lungs and its Importance (MIII)

A simple experiment was conducted for the little ones to enable them to understand and learn about the importance of lungs. Children could easily understand and thoroughly enjoyed knowing so many facts.

Skating

Skating is a sport which everyone looks forward to. Children enjoy this physical activity immensely which is not only fun but also aims at improving flexibility and co-ordination.

Earth Day

Earth day aims to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment .Our little children observed “EARTH DAY “ by offering services to mother Earth such as planting the seeds, adding fertilizers and watering them .They were made aware of the importance of keeping it clean and green.

Origami Joker

Children enjoyed making a joker with the help of introduction given by the teacher and simply loved the activity.

Feely book (carry home activity)

Children enjoyed making “touchy feely “books in which they pasted different textures of materials for e.g. sand paper thereby learning about the importance of sense of touch.

Easter celebration

Easter is a religious holiday celebrated by Christians but non-religious people often mark the day too. Religiously, Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Non-religious celebrations include things like brunches, family get together and activities like planting eggs.

Collage : healthy and junk food

Junk food and healthy food are antagonistic and keep clashing with each other over nutrients and calories. Children were told about the benefits of healthy food and the ill effects of junk food in order to create awareness in them. They were explained that eating healthy items  , staying away from junk food ,doing exercise and staying fit should be the mantra of life.

Tracing on slates is an interesting and fun based techniques to enable children to form patterns, letters and numbers.

I taste with my tongue

Description of taste is often associated with strong emotions. They express in words states of intense pleasure as well as displeasure. Sweet, Sour, Salty and Bitter tastes were sensed by our children which gave them knowledge about the functioning of the tongue.

Children enjoyed making handprint butterfly on paper with paints and were simply in awe to see their own creativity.

Tracing with paint is one of the innovative and fun based techniques of teaching children to learn the formation and writing of letters.

Learning about body parts

Children enjoyed learning about body parts with the help of related activity that enabled them to recognize parts of the body such as eyes, nose, hands and feet as well as understand their use.

Touchy feely bag activity

This activity was greatly enjoyed by our little ones as it involved them describing and observing how the different items felt in the simple science feely bag .They discovered different textures of materials using their sense of touch.

I hear with my ears (MII)

The ear is the organ of hearing through which sound waves are shuttled and the brain then interprets the information as a specific sound.  Children enjoyed exploring the world of sound waves through the sound boxes given to them and enjoyed playing with the experiment.

I see with my eyes (MII)

Eyes are the organs of visual system. It provides the ability to see in both bright and dim light focusing on objects both near and far. Children enjoyed learning about this sense organ and also the measures to be taken to protect them.

Counting with beads

It was amazing to see the little ones learning to count with the help of beads .It helps children with Math and problem solving skills, visual motor and cognitive skills.

Teaching the letter is foundational for reading and writing .Letter ‘S’ was introduced to the children with the help of ‘S s’ related pictures and objects which made learning easier.

Children enjoyed speaking about themselves and the five sense organs thereby building their confidence.

Children enjoyed learning the fun facts about float and sink experiment .They were explained with the help of different objects of varying density. Children enjoyed the activity thoroughly.

Intro of M (MI)

Letter M was introduced to the little ones through M related activities which made learning easier. Children were shown related objects around them.

Traffic Rules (MI)

Traffic rules facilitate the orderly and timely flow of traffic .Children were explained about the importance of traffic signals and the significance of each colour.

Origami boat (MI)

Origami is the art of folding paper with certain techniques which children look forward to. Children enjoyed making paper boats and were delighted to take them home.

Intro of K (MI)

Letter –K was introduced to the little ones with the help of visual aids and objects around them.

Diwali Celebration(MI,MII,MIII)

Diwali is the festival of lights celebrated by one and all across the world .This festival celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil. The little ones were dressed up in ethnic clothes and celebrated the festival of lights with great enthusiasm. Children were told about the essence of the festival-celebration of life and goodness.

Children enjoyed making the sprouted moong salad and were told about the various health benefits on the human body.

Little Chef Activity (MIII)

Children thoroughly enjoyed trying an easy and healthy salad using spinach and corn as the main ingredients .They added some lemon juice and honey to enhance the flavor .The main purpose of salad making is to encourage the kids to develop the taste for different vegetables beneficial for health.

Mike Time (MII)

Children enjoyed the ‘Mike Time’ session where they spoke a few lines on “my living friends” and were encouraged to think outside the box thereby building their confidence.

A booklet on Life cycle of a butterfly (MII)

Children enjoyed learning about the life cycle of the butterfly by creating a booklet which showed four stages: egg ,caterpillar ,pupa and adult butterfly .This amazing life cycle is a great lesson for not only the children to learn but it applies to ourselves as well .Not only do people change from within everyday but insects like butterfly do too.

Dussehra Celebration(MI,MII,MIII)

Dussehra also known as Vijayadashmi  is a major Hindu festival .It  is celebrated because Lord Ram killed the king of Lanka –Ravana .This festival spreads the message of victory of good over evil which was conveyed to our little ones.

Introduction of number 5 (MI)

Identifying numbers can be a learning experience for children .The little ones were introduced to number 5 with the help of fun related activities which helped them to recognize the number easily.

Stick Puppet (MIII and MII)

Children enjoyed making stick puppets which they simply could not resist playing with and found them adorable.

Class presentation (MIII)

A class presentation was organized on 25th and 26th of July to show case what has been taught from April. Parents were invited and children spoke on topics such as exploring me, family, community helpers & UK.

Parents applauded the confidence  of children and appreciated the efforts of teachers.

Little Chef Activity (Crunchy Crackers)

It was fun watching the children getting engrossed in the activity which not only involved their creative skills but also stimulated their taste buds.

Solid , liquid ,Gas (MII)

Children enjoyed learning about solids, liquids and gases with the help of innumerable examples .They could identify different objects with the help of information given to them.

Children looked adorable in yellow attire and were shown yellow coloured objects around them.

Letter ‘D’(MI)

Letter ‘D’ was introduced to the children with the help of ‘D’ related objects and activities which was enjoyable and informative too.

Children were introduced to letter ‘Cc’ through related pictures and objects that enabled them to learn its phonic sound.

Clay Modelling (MII)

Children enjoyed sculpting clay dough into the shape they wanted which was a great way to sharpen their imaginative powers.

Eid celebration

Eid is one of the greatest festivals which marks the spirit of brotherhood. It is an occasion of showing gratitude to God and remembering him. Our little children were told the significance of the festival and they enjoyed the customary sewain.

Matching words with pictures (MIII)

Children enjoyed matching words with the related pictures which not only kept them busy but also helped them in gaining mastery of three letter words.

Hunting of words through flash cards.(MIII)

Hunting of words through flash cards is one of the effective techniques to enable children to learn reading and writing thereby gaining mastery over new words.Children enjoyed doing this activity with great interest.

Welcome back Shalomites (MI,MII,MIII)

Children were greeted warmly after a long summer break and they enjoyed meeting their friends and sharing their experiences with them.

Little Einsteins : What absorbs more heat?

An experiment based on “what absorbs more heat” was conducted along with the children where they were shown two glasses, one wrapped with white paper and the other one wrapped with black paper with equal amount of water .Both the glasses were kept in the sun for a couple of hours before returning to measure the water temperature our little Einsteins  observed that the water in the glass wrapped with black paper was hotter which proved that dark surfaces absorb more light and heat.

Sandpaper letter

This is a great way to introduce letters to children. The alphabet card tells the child where to start and which direction to go to. This provides a tactile and visual way to help the children learn the alphabet.

Children were introduced to letter ‘ Pp’ through pictures and objects that enabled them to learn its phonic sounds easily.

Origami

Children enjoyed making an origami house with the help of instructions given by the teacher and simply loved the activity.

Family Tree

Children love to learn about the world they live in as well as the family they belong to. The family tree activity was a good way to make the little ones understand about their current and extended family.

Caterpillar with empty egg cartons.

Children spent some quality time crafting together and made creative caterpillars. This activity was a lot of fun to play with.

Lemonade Party

Children looked happy and in a holiday mood enjoying the lemonade party with their friends and looking forward to the summer break.

Number Game

Children enjoyed learning to identify numbers from 1 to 3 with the help of related objects. This number game enabled children to not only count but also included sequencing numbers.

06.05.16 Mother’s Day

Mother’s day is a day of appreciation towards mothers and mother figures worldwide. It is a celebration honouring the mother of the family and the influence of mothers in our society. Our little children were conveyed the message of love and gratitude for their respective mothers.

Children are pretty comfortable at counting forward but counting in reverse is more challenging for them. This was taught to them in a simple and interesting way through display of painted numbers on the floor.

02.05.16 Labour Day

Labour Day is celebrated every year on 1st May .This day is celebrated to pay tribute to the contributions workers have made to make the world prosper. Our little ones expressed their gratitude to our workers by making cards and paper bags for them.

The process of teaching children - How to read : (phonic sounds) MIII

The best way for children to learn reading is by understanding the phonic sounds .This is best accomplished by using a phonetic alphabet where the sounds of the letters are taught. Children enjoyed learning this way through movement and rhythm which was great fun for them.

Baisakhi is one of the major festivals of Sikhs and is celebrated with lots of enthusiasm and gaiety in the state of Punjab. Children were in colorful attire to celebrate the occasion and were told about its significance.

Origami is the art of paper folding used for all folding practices. Children enjoyed transforming a flat sheet of paper into finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques.

It was a visual delight to see little children showing their creativity with colours and paints. Making  patterns on slates was equally enjoyable.

MI & MII – “Colouring Activity”

Colouring is a fun activity that gives an opportunity to the children to express themselves . It sparks their imagination and is one of the most favourite pastime activities. Children enjoyed colouring the pictures given to them using different colour combinations thereby expressing their creative side.

Holi Celebration (22.03.16)

Holi was cerlebrated with great enthusiasm .Children enjoyed sprinkling  natural colours by each other.

Welcome of New Shalomites (21.03.16)

One could sense a lot of positivity on the first day of school as the little ones and the parents were greeted warmly.The parents and the kids were happy to have the picture clicked.

MII – “Little Chef Activity” (17.02.16)

Children had joyful experience of showing their culinary skills while making stuffed tomato basket. The students were called one by one to pour sweet corn in a bowl and mix it with salt and pepper. Tomatoes were scooped out and sweet corn was stuffed in the tomato with a dash of lemon juice by our little children.

MI, MII & MIII – “Basant Panchami” (12.02.16)

Basant Panchami day is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning and wisdom. It is a popular festival that marks the end of the winter season and the coming of spring. Children wore bright yellow dresses on this day signifying the brilliance of nature and the vibrancy of life.

MI – “Fitness Time” (11.02.16)

Exercise improves our energy and endurance and helps in development of reflexes and coordination. Children of MI are totally involved in the fitness routine thereby enjoying its benefits.

MI & MII – “Colouring Activity” (11.02.16)

Colouring is a fun activity that gives an opportunity to the children to express themselves . It sparks their imagination and is one of the most favourite pastime activities. Children enjoyed colouring the pictures given to them using different colour combinations thereby expressing their creative side.

MII – “Number Shell Game” (10.02.16)

Numbers are something we use on a daily basis. Children enjoyed playing this number game which not only helped them in identifying numbers but also made them understand the placement of numbers in correct order (arrangin the numbers in sequence).

Cotton ball sheep craft activity has been a hit everytime as it involves sticking / pasting . Children enjoyed doing this activity with great enthusiasm.

Dressed up as flowers and insects, children enjoyed hours of pretend play in a nurturing garden of imagination.
