Jeevika of Shalom Hills International School felicitated at Prize Distribution Ceremony held in Rotary Public School on 31st Oct’15

Language prodigies of Grades VI-XI of Shalom Hills International School had participated keenly and in large numbers on the vast and unlimited topic of ‘Solar energy’ in the Hindi Sulekh Pratiyogita held in the school premises on 5th October’15. The students have showcased their writing proficiencies and come up with some commendable essays. The prize distribution ceremony was held in Rotary Public School, Gurgaon on 31st Oct’15.

45000 students from various schools across Gurgaon who had taken part in this Sukekh Pratiyogita were invited for the special felicitation ceremony graced by H’ble Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana. Almost 980 students were then selected and conferred participation certificates. Jeevika, a Grade IX student of Shalom Hills International School was among the top 20 finalists. She was felicitated with medal, certificate and gifts by the H’ble Chief Minister. Exhibiting great confidence, stage daring and mastery over the language, the Shalom students impressed the distinguished gathering with their delivery and rendition of poems, self-written lines and articles on the stage.

Students of Shalom Hills International School took part in State level CBSE NORTH ZONE II SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP, 2015 organized in Guru Nanak Public School, Ludhiana (Punjab) from 30/09/15 to 04/10/15. Almost 150 schools across the state took part in the prestigious Skating Tournament and the Shalom students won laurels by lifting gold, silver and bronze medals in U-10 & U-16 (Boys)

Shalom students attend an Inter-School “SS Model United Nations” Competition held in The Indian Heights School on 27th Aug 2015

Shalom Hills International School under the creative leadership of its Founder-Managing Director, Dr Lilly George encourages its students to challenge their competencies rather than just simulating international affairs. They are encouraged to acquire diplomatic skills and debating acumen.
The Shalom school team comprising of three students of senior grades IX-X participated in the Inter-school “Sankalp Sarvodaya Model United Nations” held in The Indian Heights School, Dwarka, New Delhi on 27th August, 2015. The students represented the delegate of Kingdom of Denmark in European Council (EC), delegate of Republic of Rwanda in United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and delegate of Republic of Serbia in United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC).

The event commenced with the opening ceremony followed by declaration of conduct of business of different committees in Model United Nations. Delegates from different countries started the debate as per their set agenda in accordance with rules and procedures of MUN. The first session of the debate took off with Un-Moderated Caucus wherein the delegates explained the position of their country in informal way to other delegates to initiate the process of bloc formation. During the second session the students debated the specific issues pertaining to their country’s policy, question and answer session followed by Moderated Caucus, drafted resolution and gathered support from like-minded countries in order to pass the resolution in their committees.

The students of our school who represented themselves in UNGA, UNHRC and EC challenged the other delegates with their sharp questions on the foreign policy being followed by their country regarding the issues taken in their respective committees. The students as delegates explained their assigned countries position with “position paper” and “draft resolution” submitted during the event, they answered all questions with utter confidence and vigor, negotiated with other countries to form “bloc”. Finally the Shalom students prepared the “resolutions” as sponsors which was signed by other countries as “signatories” and alter on successfully passed when voted upon in their committees.

Adding another feather in their cap was that Shalom Hills International School students representing the Delegate of Rwanda and Delegate of Denmark bagged the two prestigious awards “Verbal Appreciation Award for UNGA” and “Verbal Appreciation Award for EC”.

Dhruv Tikku of Shalom Hills International School wins laurels at CBSE National Archery Championship held from 29th April to 3rd May’15

Dhruv Tikku, a bright and sharp-eyed boy of Class VIII represented Shalom Hills International School at CBSE National Archery Championship, held at Rajendra’s Academy, Moradabad (U.P). There were 190 participants hailing from 9 states across India. Among the contestants, Dhruv was the youngest athlete to participate in the championship. His young age notwithstanding he put up an impressive show and his mark by securing 6th position in the championship. Dhruv made his school proud and kept the Shalom banner flying high with his achievement at such a coveted and fiercely contested tournament.
