COMPUDON JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON 4 -AWARD CEREMONY-GRADES: III-IX-OCTOBER 18 ,2023

October 18 ,2023 marked the culmination of season IV of the COMPUDON JUNIOR, National Championship with the award ceremony that took place in Shalom Hills International School in which the students from grades III to IX were felicitated with certificates of Recognition and and medals of Achievement.
The championship was unlocked to the students in the age group of 8 to 14 years on August 15, 2023. It aimed to test the students’ skills on basic ICT or digital literacy concepts that are essential for students in 21st Century. The competition serves as an inspiration for young minds to enhance their technical skills and contribute to a more digitally empowered future.

Achievement Report September, 2023

Unicus Science Olympiad (USO) is a diagnostic test which helps students improve their overall learning ability and educational performance. USO measures how well a student has understood the concepts and provides a detailed feedback on the same, to help him/her improve. Avika Narang of class III participated in this prestigious exam and secured International Rank 1 in science Olympiad and North Zone Rank 7 in English Olympiad at the International Level. She has been awarded with a Gold medal, Merit Certificate of appreciation and a Trophy. May all the success that has come her way lead her to bigger achievements in the years to come. COMPUDON JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP Computer Science Online Competition (31 st July, 2023) (Classes: III-IX)

It is essential to have some computer knowledge early on in our lives so that we get to appreciate its benefits and get to properly use the computer to its full potential. 
Prelims for Computer Science online competition was organized by an external organization for Classes: III- IX on 31 st July,2023 in the Computer science lab at Shalom Hills International School by Computer Science Department. The online login Id and password along with the link for the webpage was provided to the school by the Compudon team. The Computer teachers coordinated and helped the students to login after which the students enthusiastically attempted the quiz and submitted it. Different slots were divided class wise for the smooth functioning of the Lab.
The aim of such a quiz was to make young minds aware about the basic concepts of Computer Science and make them competent to face the age- appropriate level of their computer knowledge. The competition among the students was tough but, in the end, the most deserving candidates will eventually become the winners for the second level. It was altogether a fruitful event for all.

MAHA BEHES 2023 FINAL NATIONAL ROUND AT DELHI-NCR JULY 08-09, 2023

The BEHES tournament is a celebration of ideas, with students exploring a wide variety of topics and critically examining them. Designed to be interactive and challenging, each tournament rewards the top teams with qualification to the MAHA BEHES, and the season’s final is held in India’s national capital every summer.
The MAHA BEHES 2023 Final was held on 8 th and 9 th of July at Ramagya School, Noida. The tournament saw participation from over 900 students from schools across India. The competition was held in two divisions: Cubs (for students in grades 6-8) and Lions (for students in grades 9-12). The topics for debate were a mix of current affairs and hypothetical scenarios. The event commenced with an Opening Ceremony and a briefing session on MAHA BEHES. Encouraged and blessed by our academically progressive Founder and Chairperson, Dr (Mrs.) Lilly George, 68 students from Shalom Hills International School had qualified for the final round, out of which 56 students participated. The event ended with the Award Ceremony in which numerous students won laurels and accolades.
Through the punctilious efforts of the students, our school bagged the runners up trophy for the Cubs division. The juniors won 13 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals. In the Lions division, the seniors won 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. Two junior teams of our school made it to the top 4 and one senior team to the top 8 of this competition. The teacher-in-charge was also acknowledged with a Star Mentor Award as a special mention during the award ceremony. The event gave the students an opportunity to learn about different perspectives and to develop their critical thinking skills.

Olympiad exams help to create competitive awareness among students at school, national and global level. These exams aim to improve problem-solving ability and analytical thinking skills of students. As a student prepares and competes in such competitive exams, they build a positive academic foundation. They gradually strengthen the student’s analytical reasoning, logical thinking, IQ, and other skills. Our young Shalomites participated in the different Silver zone and SOF Olympiads and won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the various subject categories. NSTSE (National Level Science Talent Search Examination) is a diagnostic test which helps students improve their overall learning ability and educational performance. NSTSE measures how well a student has understood the concepts and provides a detailed feedback on the same, to help him/her improve.
Avika Narang of class II participated in this prestigious exam and secured third rank out of the top 100 National Achievers at the National Level. She has been awarded with a Gold medal, Certificate of appreciation and a Tablet PC. May all the success that has come her way lead her to bigger achievements in the years to come.

Grade I- V Achievement Report: Olympiads (2021-22)

Olympiad exams help to create competitive awareness among students at school, national and global level. These exams aim to improve problem-solving ability and analytical thinking skills of students. ISKF National Open Karate Championship National Open level Competition April 10th , 2022

ISKF National Open Karate Championship was held on 10th April 2022. This was a prestigious competition in which around 15 schools from all over the country participated. It was a national open level competition. It was held at Sukhrali community centre Gurugram, Haryana. Ayaan Sethi of III D won the silver medal. Bronze medals were won by Shaurya Chawla I C and Yash Arora II E. The Shalom family is proud of the tremendous efforts and achievements of all the students who participated in this prestigious competition and wishes them all the best for their future endeavours.

Olympiad Achievement

The Silver Zone Olympiads, conducted by the Silver Zone Foundation for school students, are a series of competitive examinations held at school levels in the National and International spheres. The Silver Zone Foundation is an NGO dedicated to improving and promoting competitive awareness of academics in school children in India and abroad.
Vedant Dubey of Class III B participated in the Hindi and GK Olympiad, successfully bagging the Gold Medals in both by securing the 1st rank at zonal and Class levels. His exemplary performance, achieved with his hard work and dedication, is admired by all.

VOCAB-O-PEDIA – A National Level Event

“The road to success and greatness is always paved with consistent hard work.”
Proving this saying right and displaying the power of will, Class I and II students participated in a National Level Event – VOCAB-O-PEDIA at national level wherein 65 schools and 2100 children participated from across the nation.
The stimulating Quiz for the National Quizzers was held virtually between 12th January to 25th February for Class I to Class V students. The event had several rounds of online quizzes and live Rapid-Fire Round. Our young Shalomites Krisha Girdhar, Myra Gupta, Shivanshi Pandey, Saanvi Sharma, Stuti Nagar, Mitansh Mishra from Class II and Avika Narang, Akshdha Mahajan, Akshaj Nath Nagar, Ipshita Srivastava, Inaya, Neel Biju Vidhyadharan from Class I who brought laurels to the school.
Shivanshi Pandey from class II and Akshdha Mahajan from class I performed exceptionally well in the final Live Rapid-Fire Round, succeeding in achieving the 1st runner up position at national level.

Prarthna Kapoor of class IV C participated in IEO (International English Olympiad); a yearly exam conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for school students. The IEO is an important exam that develops language skills. This exam aims to help students test their English language knowledge. Prarthna Kapoor of IV C successfully bagged the Gold Medal by securing the 3rd rank at school level with her hard work and dedication.

'AARAADHANAA' National Level Inter-School Classical Dance & Singing Competition

Music is a universal language. It has no barriers. A good music with a good content is acknowledged by all. Music has the power to touch every heart, inspire every mind and heal every wound irrespective of age, gender, religion or language.
An Inter-school Competition was organised by National Level PAN India in Pure Hindustani Classical by HERITAGE FOUNDATION, Bangalore, one of the biggest Indian NGOs.
Our young talented Shalomite, Debosmita Mitra of grade III-I, participated in an event ‘AARAADHANAA’ hosted by the HERITAGE FOUNDATION, held on 30th October, 2021.
Debosmita made the school proud by attaining the 1st position in Solo performance – Hindustani held under the Sub – Junior Category.

‘Aaraadhanaa’ National Level Classical Singing Competition November 15, 2021

Enthused by their passion, Deepalika Mitra and Deepshikha Mitra of Class VII A made all of us proud by Participating in ‘Aaraadhanaa’, a National Level Inter-school Classical Singing Competition held on November 15, 2021, and bagging the 1st and 3rd rank respectively.
Music is an art that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and colour. The art of music is perfected only through practice and persistence which is very well reflected by Deepalika Mitra and Deepshikha Mitra. Their love for our culture and dedication to keep our tradition alive in the form of classical music is commendable.

Class V- Aditya Anand All India Swachh Bharat Art Competition May 9, 2021

“As in the fourteen lines of a sonnet, a few strokes of the pencil can hold immensity.” After clearing the state round conducted in the month of January, Aditya Anand of class VB, participated in the All-India Swachh Bharat Art Competition. He moved to the next round with a medal and a certificate added to his achievements. The national level competition was conducted on 19th March 2021. He submitted his artwork through WhatsApp to the Organisation and received the news on 9th May, 2021 that he had added another feather to his cap. The organisation sent a package addressed to Aditya Anand through courier informing that he had scored A+ grade in the Competition. He was awarded the National Level Trophy and Certificate. The Shalom Family is proud of his outstanding achievements.

NOF is an organization of scholastic examination conducted across the country. An exclusive body of academicians of national and international fame prepares all the questions for the examination. It ensures that the quality and competency of the examination can be maintained on an International ground. National Olympiad Foundation constitutes docking of academic talent and social entrepreneurship helping the talent to come out from the walls of classroom. This year because of the pandemic, this exam was conducted online. With her score she secured 3rd rank in her class level. The entire Shalom Family congratulates her on this achievement.

Soumi Chatterjee Outshines in International Olympiads

Hard work, dreams and dedication lead to success.The same is very rightly proved by Soumi Chatterjee of class IV G, who participated in the Olympiads conducted by the Silver Zone Foundationand brought laurels to the school. She secured 2nd position (Silver Medal) in International Olympiad of English Language (IOEL) and 3rd position (Bronze Medal) in International Olympiad of Mathematics in her class. Class V Olympiad Achievements March 12, 2021

“If you want to reach a goal, you must see the reaching in your mind before you actually arrive at your goals.” Navya Kashnia of class VF stood 1st in the categories of the Silver Zone Olympiad she participated in - Class, Zonal and Olympiad, for English and Science. She determined in her heart and achieved another enviable milestone in her academic year. The examination was held on 9th and 16th January respectively this year and the results were declared on 11th March 2021. Her exemplary performance is admired by all and the Shalom Family is proud of her for adding laurels to the fraternity.

Smart Kid G.K. Olympiad 2020-21

“Success isn't just about what you accomplish in your life; it's about what you inspire others to do." Inspiring all of us, Chirag Shah of Class IV participated in the G.K. Olympiad conducted by Silver Zone in December2020 for which the results were declared in March, 2021. We are happy to announce that Chirag has secured Class Rank 1 and Zonal Rank 86 winning the Gold Medal for his achievement. Congratulations to Chirag for his achievement and best wishes for his future endeavors.

Smart Kid G.K. Olympiad 2020-21

There is no magic to achievement. It’s really about hard work, choices, and persistence. This is apt for many of us and the same went true with Aadhya Gaur of class II A when sheprepared for the G K Olympiad (Silver Zone)and achieved the second rank. It was her diligence and dedication that helped her to score 96.532 and achieve the zonal rank of 105. Kudos to the Olympiad Winner!

Olympiad Achievement March 10, 2021

“The larger the island of knowledge, the longer the shoreline of wonder.” The result details of the Olympiads of GK and Informatics were shared by the proud parents with the school. Shreyas has a thirst for knowledge and by acing both of these Olympiads and bagging the Gold Medals (in the class category), he has proved that the shoreline for wonder is definitely longer if one has the ability and the opportunity to do so. Both the exams were conducted in the month of December, 2020 and the results were declared in the month of March, 2021. Matching the pride of Shreyas’ parents, we at Shalom Hills wish him all the very best for all his future endeavours.

International Science Olympiad 2020-21

“Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done." Daksh Khatri of grade IV participated in the International Science Olympiad conducted by Silver ZoneFoundation. He outshined by performing exceptionally well. He secured a Gold Medal for achieving Olympiad rank 1 with a score of 100 out of 100. Heartiest Congratulations to him for his stupendous success!

Class IV C- Shaurya Sewani Olympiad Achievement

“The harder you work for something, the greater you will feel when you achieve it and there is no magic to achievement, it is really about hard work and choices.” ShauryaSewani of class IV C participated in the International Mathematics Olympiad which was conducted by Silver Zone Olympiad 2020-21 on 23rd January 2021. This gave him an understanding of Mathematics in our daily life. The result was declared on 10th March 2021.Credit to his hard work,dedication and exemplary performance,Shauryasuccessfully bagged the Silver Medal by securing 2nd rank in class IV. Achievement – Silver Zone Olympiad 2020 – 21

There is no substitute for hard work”.-Thomas Edison Silver Zone Foundation is one of the best possible ways to ensure the growth of a student, both on personal as well as academic counts. It covers subjects like Maths, English, General Science, Current affairs and sport. The event broadens the vision of a student, thereby enabling her/him to understand and analyse a situation better than one would without proper knowledge. Anaya Kashnia of Shalom Hills International School, Gurugram (Class III H) participated in the Silver Zone Olympiad 2020 – 21 and secured 1st position at class and zonal both in IOEL and IOS. Winner -International Olympiad Of English Language 2020-21

The International Olympiad of English Language (IOEL), a test of competence and knowledge in the subject of English Language, is held annually at National and International levels, based on the syllabus prescribed by CBSE/ICSE and various other State Boards. The Silver Zone IOEL 2020-2021 was conducted on November 05, 2020, and December 11, 2020. IOEL recommends the competition for each and every student who is studying English Language as his/her subject in the school. Not only the students from length and breadth of this sub-continent, but also from far-away countries (Africa, Middle-East, Far-East etc.) wrestle their arms in this Olympiad. With her sincere efforts and hard work, ShivanshiPandey of grade-I,madethe school proud by bagging the Winner Certificate in this competition.She scored 100 points in this competition and secured the 1st positions in class 1 and the Zonallevel. Achievement – Silver Zone Smart Kid G.K. Olympiad (2020 - 21)

Smart Kid General Knowledge Olympiad (SKGK) of the SilverZone Foundation is the best possible way to ensure the growth of a student, both on personal as well as academic counts. The Olympiad is held annually at National and International levels. The event broadens the vision of a student, thereby enabling him/her to understand and analyse a situation better than one would without proper knowledge. It is a test of competence and proficiency in General Knowledge. It is based on subjects like History, Geography, General Science, Current affairs and Sports etc. on syllabus prescribed by CBSE/ICSE and the State Boards. Anumegh Mukhopadhyay of Shalom Hills International School, Gurugram (Class III D) participated in the Smart Kid G.K. Olympiad 2020 – 21 and secured Class Rank 2 and a Silver medal for his excellent performance in the same.

Class V- Saloni Datta Olympiad Achievement March 12, 2021

Achievement In Bricmath

BRICSMATH.COM is an annual INTERNATIONAL ONLINE COMPETITION in Mathematics, for students of classes I-XII of 07 BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia and Vietnam). The competition was held online on the website www.bricsmath.com and was completely free of cost. The purpose of the competition was to cultivate interest in Mathematics and develop logical reasoning skills, as well as to unite children from different countries. This year the preparatory round for the online competition was scheduled from 22nd April 2020 - 22nd May 2020. The main competition was held in the month of November- December 2020. This notification was given from school side i.e. SHALOM HILLS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, SECTOR 52 to all the parents on 1st May 2020. Darsh Bhatnagar of class 2-D from Shalom Hills International School, participated in this BRICMATH Competition supported by theGovt. of India’s NITI Ayog with NCERT. The child has been awarded the certificate for the competition and stands among top 3% participants in India and among top 10% participants in the world. Such a proud moment for all us. Kudos to the school for providing such a wonderful platform to the children so that they can showcase their talents.

Mind Wars Contest

Mind Wars is India's biggest knowledge platform for school students. Created for the purpose of sharing information and knowledge, it is a multi-platform knowledge programme which aims to reach 1 crore students from over 40,000 schools across India. This first-of-its-kind initiative offers an open platform for students to benchmark themselves against their peers on a national scale using multi-level testing platforms across three content segments – Curriculum, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs. It included the NCERT syllabus of English, E.V.S. and Math. Anish Singh of class IV A participated in the November month revision competition of Mind Wars contest. Top 21 participants had neck to neck competition with 760 points winning marks. Students were ranked on the basis of time of completion of the test and their marks. Our young scholar, Anish, the only one to be selected form Haryana, scored 760 points and secured the 20th position in the contest.

Accolades At National level Painting Competition - CIART, Mumbai

Young artists of our school enthusiastically participated in the Stateand National level drawing competition for Std. Pre-Kg to Std. 10 organized by Centre For Indian Art Resources and Training (CIART), Mumbai & National Education & Human Resource Development Organization, Mumbai in the month of May and September respectively. Aditya Anand, student of class IV made an eye-catching painting and qualified for the national level and wonthe National Child Artist Award also. Schools from 16 states participated in this National Level Olympiad. The performance of Shalom Hills International at this National Level is indeed commendable and significant. Our school stood among the Top 3 schools and has been conferred with the ‘Hindi PrerakSamman’ award for the outstanding performance of its students. Moreover, our children made us proud by winning the ‘Hindi PratibhaSamman’. Two young Hindi enthusiasts, ManitaRao of Grade X and MonalArora of Grade V are the proud winners of the National Level Trophies, making a mark with their stupendous performance!

Khelo Indian Boxing Championship 13th -19th January 2019

‘’ A champion shows who he is by what he does when he’s tested……’’

An inspiration for young boys and girls of his age, it takes a lot of diligence and hard work to come so far and emerge as the youngest boxer of Khelo Indian Boxing Championship. Yashwardhan Singh won the title of the ‘Khelo India Boxing Champion Master’ and won a silver medal after winning the Pre-quarter Final, Quarter Final and the Semi Final rounds, in the light weight under 17 category. 

His first bout was with a CBSE champion followed by the second bout with MP Open National Bronze Medalist, and the Semi-final with the Haryana SGFI Bronze Medalist held at Guwahti. Our young boxer gave a tough fight to his opponents and emerged victorious. His next bout, which he unfortunately lost in the last round, was with his opponent from an Army Sports Institute at Maharashtra.

It is a matter of immense pride to witness our youngest boxer win the Tournament showcasing his explicit talent!

Yashwardhan Outshines Again

For the second year in the series Yashwardhan of grade IX won the 64TH National School Games 2018, in Boxing. Focused and confident in the ring, Yashwardhan continued to punch his winning box, knocking out his opponent who was 4 inch taller than him. Yashwardhan eyes his future by representing the country in the Olympic Games, and we wish him luck.

National ICE-Figure Skating Championship 11 – 13 December 2018

Shalom Girls participated in the National Ice-Figure Skating Championship   from 11th – 13th December at I-skate Ambiance Mall Gurgaon (Haryana). Lavanya Wali made us proud by once again becoming 3rd time National Champion from our school. She participated in the Sols, Pair Performance and Team Synchronized Skating. IILM Young Citizen Award for Innovation and Social Change 10th August 2018

Our Grade XI students participated in one of the most prestigious competitions, the IILM Young Citizen Award for Innovation and Social Impact, in collaboration with UN Global Compact at IILM University on 10th August 2018.

The key objective of the Award was to create a pool of socially impactful innovative ideas that could be developed to commercially viable solutions to the socio-economic problems of India. With this objective, our students worked dedicatedly on the project report and preparing presentation on two topics; ‘Dilemma of Over-Consumerism’ and ‘Farmers’ Messiah’, so as to create social impact in the world that surrounds them.

There was an overwhelming participation of 50 teams and more than 130 students. Out of which, 15 teams were to be selected for the final round on October 24, UN Day.  Our students gave a remarkable performance in presenting their idea on social change in front of the esteemed jury members.  Both the teams were appreciated for their innovative solutions to the existing socio-economic problems in India.

With Immense pride, we state that one of our teams has been selected for the Final round, and is now amongst the top 15 teams to compete on October 24, 2018.

It is indeed rightly said by Karl Marx, ‘What makes us distinctively human is our capacity for intelligent and creative work’.

SOTY- Student of The Year Awards 12th August 2018

The SOTY Awards is a massive & brilliant platform provided to the students, that follows a rigorous and competitive process. The entire process has been aptly named ‘Master Stroke’, a comprehensive process to best evaluate each student for the award facilitated by USA UnivQuest. This is a life time achievement and recognition that boosts the resume of children valued by the top MNC recruiters and the Best Ranked Universities across the world, especially the USA.

A detailed Goal Setting process is created that guides and assists children in defining career goals and exploring the best possible route to achieve those goals. Through GS, they understand what motivates them and fits their career choices. Moreover, it also helps them to understand the education and skills required for achieving their goals.

After undergoing a three-step process - Online Registration, Complete Online Profile i.e. Universal Student Application, and Personal Interview, our young Shalomites, Rushikesh Aloey of class X and Kenneth Lobo of class XI, won the City Level Award under the Global SOTY Foundation’s  “Student of The Year Award – 2017”. Both of them were awarded the Gold Plaque and Certificate during the felicitation ceremony for being Winners in their respective category.

Painting Competition Held By Dainik Jagran Newspaper

 On 19th April, the newspaper - Dainik Jagran published a notice inviting paintings for the GO Green Drawing Competition on Earth Day. Divya Singh of grade VI and Aditya Singh of grade IV participated in this competition in their respective categories.  It is a matter of great pride that both the paintings were adjudged  winners.

SHIS Highest Scorer at Second Level Korea-India Friendship Quiz 19th April 2018

Under the aegis & guidance of its Founder and Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Lilly George, the Shalom students had participated in the first round of Korea - India Friendship Quiz Competition where 10 bright Shalomites of classes IX & X qualified for the next round of the quiz that was held on 19th April 2018 at the Embassy of South Korea (Korea Cultural Centre India).

The selection in the second round gave the children international exposure and greater insight into India's diplomatic ties and bilateral relations with South Korea. Trained by the Quiz In-charge Ms Lopa Mishra, the Students geared up for the high octane second round of the competition where they faced off with 100 other stalwarts from prestigious schools like DAV (Gurgaon), Amity (Delhi), Kothari International School (Delhi), K.R Mangalam( Gurgaon), Scottish High(Gurgaon), National Victor (Delhi), Dr. Radhakrishnan International (Delhi), R.D Rajpal (Delhi), to name a few. The second round had two, Level 2A- written and Level 2B- Oral, Visual cum Buzzer, with special emphasis on South Korean language and spellings.  The Shalomites proved their mettle by bagging the 1st position in the Semi Finals as the Highest Scorer ever in history of Semifinals of Korea-India Quiz competition.

A. Mohammed Farhaan of Class IX from Shalom Hills International School has secured his place in the Finals that will be held on 3rd May 2018.

The Finals of the Quiz competition will require a deep dive into Korea’s foreign relations, culture, economy, politics, government, language, cuisine, society, tourism, sports, history and geography.  The far reaching objective that is being organized by the Embassy of South Korea is to foster closer India-South Korea relations and broaden children’s knowledge about the bilateral relations between the two countries.

ACCOLADES AT THE CBSE SCIENCE EXHIBITION –NATIONAL ROUND -10th – 12th FEBRUARY ’2018

It is rightly said ‘’Today’s Science is tomorrow’s technology.’’

Having won the Regional level of the CBSE Science Exhibition, the Senior students showcased their Geo- stationary satellite (NVAIC) model based on Transport and Communication at the National Level held at Mount Public School, Sector -5, Rohini from 10th -12th February 2018.   This event saw young enthusiastic from across 460 showcasing their innovative working models and investigation based projects.

The exhibits by the different schools were indeed eye-openers on various topics related to Green Energy, Innovation in Transport, Communication, Agriculture, Technology, Bio-Diversity and Environment.

Our young aspiring Shalomites, Avdhesh Vakil and Arushi Hans of Grade 11 described the whole process of the satellite launch and the complete mechanism of NVAIC to our most- curious judges and inquisitive students from across different schools, with great confidence.

The judges applauded the students for their novel ideas which would help the world to become a much better place to live in. The mentor and guide, Mr. Param Dev Singh, got the opportunity to participate in the panel discussion and even to conduct a workshop on effective teaching at the venue.

The exhibition, held with a view to encourage, popularize and inculcate scientific temperament in students, was truly successful in its endeavor.

The child prodigies Falakpreet Kaur Multant (I), Anay Agarwal (II D), Yeshveer Singh Tomar (VI D) and SanviNowal(VII D) received Medals of Excellence for English and Science. Arnav (I B), and Garvita (I C) received special prize for their academic performance in Informatics. SILVER IN 63rd SCHOOL NATIONAL BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

Yashwardhan of grade VIII won the silver medal in the 63rd School National Boxing Championship held at Banaras from 25/1/18 to 30/1/18. This is the third time in a row where the young boxer from Shalom has received the truly deserved applause at the National level championship. Showcasing his extra ordinary boxing skills, he overpowered all his opponents in knock-out bouts.

55TH NATIONAL ROLLER SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP

Advaith K Menon and Swastika Dhariwal of grade VII represented Haryana state in the 55th National Roller Skating Championship held at Chennai from 25/01/18 to 01/02/18, where more than 1200 participants from across India participated. Advaith K Menon, who participated in two races i.e., 500 mt. in which he secured the 2nd position and 3000 mt. race in which he surpassed all other participants in his category to bag the 1st position. Swastika demonstrated exemplary skills in her races but could not make a podium finish this time.

Lavanya Wali Creates a Sensation at the 14th National Ice Figure Skating Championship

Eight and a half year old Lavanya Wali, a student of Grdae IV of Shalom Hills International School proved her talent and skating skill by winning the Gold medal in the 14th National Ice Figure Skating Championship in the juvenile solo ice figure category held at the Ambience Mall, Gurugram on 1st and 2nd October, 2017.

Winner of the Haryana state Gold Medal, Lavanya was the defending champion of last year’s National Ice Figure Skating Championship. An excellent student of Shalom Hills International School, she has won more than 12 competitions including the 2017 Haryana State Championships and Iskate Blades for Glory 2016 and 2017.

Hindi Development Institute Olympiad

The Students of classes VI-X appeared for the Hindi Development Olympiad organized by the Hindi Vikas Academy, with full enthusiasm. All the students applied their knowledge to perform to the best of their ability. While thirteen other students received medals, Vidhi Narang of Grade VI performed exceptionally well to win the Gold medal at the National level.  The Hindi teacher, Ms. Lalita Yadav was awarded a certificate for the best Coordinating Teacher.

Under the aegis & guidance of Dr. Lilly George, Founder-Managing Director, our students of Junior and Senior Division participated with full vigour in the World Scholar’s Cup (Regional Round) held on 1st -2nd May’17 at Suncity World School, Gurgaon, based on the theme of ‘AN UNLIKELY WORLD’. Their journey began with them being trained and groomed by their mentor, Ms. Rinky Tandon. It was a breath-taking, yet strong competitive challenge to meet different schools across the country on this platform and emerge as World class winners from among 450 scholars. Some prestigious schools, among the 35 which participated in this tournament, were Modern School (Barakhamba and Vasant Vihar), Sanskriti School, Amity International, Mayo College (Ajmer), Venketeshwar International, Heritage School (Vasant Kunj, Rohini), Indirapuram Public School, Salwan Public School, D.A.V Public School, D.P.S. International School, Gyan Bharti School, Maruti Kunj, D.P.S, Lotus Valley International, K.R. Mangalam World School, The Millenium School and The Doon School.

Our students, with their heads held up high walked oozing confidence and tackled all the team events with amazing expertise - The Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Challenge and Scholar’s Bowl. Our bright orators, both from the Junior and Senior Divisions, spoke skillfully in a veritable battle of words on various topics for the Team Debates. Our students at every step were beaming high with enthusiasm and held a positive approach.  Though our boys and girls were exhausted; still not even once did their spirit to move on to the next challenge fade away as they put up long hours battling at all ends with amazing finesse. They applied their mental ability to the fullest and indeed proved their excellence in general awareness. All the teams brainstormed their way through a platter of questions and triumphantly got oodles of merit for their winning performance.

It was a proud moment to witness our Stormy Shalomites- mark high sweepstakes of over 175 medals and 11 trophies to their stride breaking all their previous records. They stood out from the crowd of 450 scholars from around 35 schools across the country, bagging the 1st Position for Debating, Collaborative Writing, Challenge and being Overall Champions at the Regional Round. Our entire team made it big, taking positions at all places ranging from 35th to making it to the 1st position in all events.
Shreya Malviya was felicitated as the Best Debater at 1st Position in the Junior Division; the wolf of Shalom, Kenneth Lobo at the 5th Position and Rishika Arora sweeping the 4th Position in the Senior Round. Nandini Shukla made us proud by sweeping the 1st Position for Collaborative Writing Challenge in the Junior Division with her team members, Rushikesh Aoley and Vedant Swain, being honoured as the Best Writing Team in the 1st Position in the Junior Division. The Scholar’s Bowl witnessed both our junior (Nandini Shukla, Rushikesh Aaoley, Vedant Swain) and senior Team (Rishika Arora, Parleen Ranhotra, Kushagr Kapoor) sweeping away the 2nd Positions. The Challenge round witnessed Rushikesh Aaoley, Gauri Srivastava, Manvita Rao and Himanshi Rao in the Junior Division take the 1st Position and Rishika Arora with Kushagr Kapoor in the Senior Division. Our students made us proud in all areas ranging from Literature, History, Social Studies, Science and Special Area and Arts. Rishika Arora , Parleen Ranhotra  and Kushagr Kapoor marked the 1st Position in the Top Challenge Team whereas in Juniors- Vedant Swain, Nandini Shukla and Rushikesh Aaoley took away the 3rd Position. Under the aegis & guidance of its Founder-Managing Director, Dr. Lilly George, the Shalom students receive coveted invitations to World Class Competitions which gives them international exposure and greater insight into India's diplomatic ties and bilateral relations with other countries. After an initial screening test 10 Shalomites of Grade X were selected to compete in the highly engaging yet challenging Inter-school Korea-India Friendship Quiz Competition, organized by the Embassy of South Korea.

After successfully outdoing 14,500 participants in Level 1 and Level 2, Akshita Anand (X C) marched towards the final audio-visual buzzer round of the Quiz, which required a deep dive into South Korea’s foreign relations, culture, economy, politics, government, language, cuisine, society, tourism, sports, history and geography. She became the proud recipient of the Special Prize of a Samsung Galaxy S7 worth Rs.54, 000, presented by Mr. Hyun Cho (Ambassador of South Korea to India) and a cash prize of Rs.2000 by Mr. Kim Kum-Pyong (Director of Tourism South Korea).

Devishi Sahai (XI B), Bharti Raghav (X A), Ishaan Mukerjee (XII A), Akshita Anand (X C) also won 4 audience prizes, the highest among participating schools.

The laudable objective behind this challenging Quiz is to foster closer India-South Korea relations, broaden the children’s knowledge about the bilateral relations between these two countries and to provide them with an opportunity to learn about the South Korean culture.

Zonal level toppers of Computer and Science Olympiads felicitated with medals

Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) hosted the Olympiad competition which is the fastest growing Olympiad amongst the student fraternity across India. It is a unique platform that tests the level of understanding, knowledge and power of reasoning of the students.

SHIS encourages its students to challenge their potential and chisel their proficiencies through the medium of these Olympiads as these competitive examinations benefit the enterprising talents in our country and facilitate the young brains in achieving new horizons.

The child prodigies, Sannidhya Gupta (VI), Akhand Pratap Singh (VI) and Prakhar B Kumar (VII) have received Medals of Excellence for Computer and Sannidhya Gupta (VI) and Sanvi Nowal (VI) have received Gold Medals for Science. They were warmly felicitated and blessed by Dr. Lilly George, Founder-Managing Director.

LAVANYA WALI BLADES IT DIFFERENTLY

Lavanya wali of grade III is a new addition to the family of proud shalomites, as she performs and made a mark by winning gold in figure skating at the 13th National Ice skating competition held at Ambience mall, Gurgaon from 05/1/17 to 06/1/17organized by Ice Skating Association of India. Lavanya interest for the new sport as far as India is concerned has raised the hopes of sports lovers in the country. Lavanya performed in solo and in pair in Under-10 age category. She carries a huge interest for the sport and keeps her eye representing her nation at Winter Olympics. Shalom family encourages every student to participate in some kind of sport which will help in nation building.

Shalom students win 3rd position in 9--A side National Level Football Competition

Yet another feather has been added in the cap of Shalom achievements and sports accolades. The new year 2017 began on a successful and propitious note as 2 bright Shalom students , Parth Chauhan of IX and Soham Moulree of VIII won laurels by bagging the 3rd position in the 9--A side National Level Football Competition held recently in Raipur.

Yashwardhan Singh- Story (T.O.I)

Yashwardhan Singh, a promising student of Grade VII studying at Shalom Hills International School, Gurgaon possesses great inclination towards boxing and has great dreams of representing the Indian tri color at 2024 Olympics. This young boxing prodigy’s hard work, dedication and resolve to make it ‘big’ in the boxing arena have paid rich dividends. He has made a triumphant podium finish for the consecutive years at National level. He has won a bronze medal at National Level Boxing Championship 2015-16.
This year making a succession from Block level to State level, Yashwardhan has brought glory to the state of Haryana by winning a shining gold in Haryana School State Championship which was held at Bhim Stadium Bhiwani from 05/09/16 to 08/09/16 in below 42kg of U-14 boys category. He made a podium finish by making successive strokes registering his win against worthy boxers from Jhajjar, Sonipat, Hisar & Bhiwani. He has been selected to represent Haryana state in the forthcoming Nationals to be held in Delhi from 02/01/17 to 06/01/17. He is receiving vigorous practice for the same under Coach Dharamvir. If this young boxing champ emerges undefeated in the National Round, he will be a hot candidate for forthcoming World School Games.
The school management especially the Founder-Managing Director of SHIS, Dr. Lilly George, the Principal, Mr. Atul Bhatt & all the teachers have always supported Yashwardhan on his academic front and encouraged him to chase and achieve his dreams.

STATE LEVEL ROLLER SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP

AstitvaThukral of grade XI participated in State level roller skating championship from 09/09/16 to 11/09/16. He participated in three races where he won 2 bronze and gold, he is also been selected for Nationals to be held at Karnataka in the month of January.

Shalom students qualify for second level of Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) is an educational foundation and a non-profit organization based in New Delhi, India which promotes Science, Mathematics, Introductory Computer Education and English Language skills amongst school children in India. It organizes four Olympiads annually, namely the National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), the National Science Olympiad (NSO), the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) and the International English Olympiad (IEO).

Each Olympiad is conducted at two levels. The students from Class I to X participated in the examination. Results have been announced for every student and it includes the student's overall rank, state rank, school rank, percentile score, etc. SOF also generates a performance report for all participating schools, as well as awards teachers and principals whose pupils excelled in the exam.Top 500 students, top 10 students in each state, as well as school toppers are selected for the second level. 44 students participated for Science Olympiad and 11 of them qualified for Second level. The students qualified for Second level are as follows.

Astitva Thukral of Shalom Hills International School felicitated by H’ble Chief Minister of Haryana on 24th April’16

Astitiva Thukral of Grade –XI was felicitated for his achievements in Skating the by Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Haryana for securing Bronze medal in 52nd National Roller Skating championship from 21-25 January 2015 held at Maharashtra.

The ‘skating champ’ of SHIS He was felicitated by Sh. Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana & Sh. Anil Vij, Hon’ble Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, Haryana on 24/4/16 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Shalom Hills awarded certificate at Microsoft Grand Finale Event 27th April’16

Out of 4000 schools across country where Microsoft tools are implemented, SHIS was one of the 20 schools from Delhi, Gurgaon which participated in the Grand Finale Ceremony organised at the WWF Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

Shalom Hills International School was represented by  Ms.Vimala Jossy and Ms. Anjali Drolia. This event was an ideal platform for appreciating the innovative and creative expression adopted by schools along with Community Outreach programme during the implementation of various toolkits. The main motto of this ‘Microsoft – Aspire to Inspire’ Programme has been to create a more sustainable society .

Microsoft lead by Dr.Vini and Ms.Manjri awarded the certificates to the teachers.

The workshop concluded with a note from Mr Rohit Prakash  and mitigation plan from Dr Vini in which she mentioned about how Microsoft is playing an integral part in Education through ‘Showcase School Programme’ wherein around 100 schools across world are exchanging ideas. The programme concluded with vote of thanks to host schools like Lotus Valley, DPS Vasant Kunj and Indraprastha International School
