World Scholars Cup – Tournament of Champions 15th November – 21st November 2018

‘Champion among Champions……’ Under the aegis & guidance of our Founder and Chairperson  Dr. (Mrs.)  Lilly George, our young and enthusiastic Shalomites embarked upon one of the journeys of their life of a never – ending process of learning, debating and writing.
World Scholar’s Cup held their final round ‘The Tournament of Champions’ at  Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut from November 15- 21, which marked the culmination of the global theme  ‘An Entangled World’  emphasizing upon competitive and community- building events. Trained and groomed by their mentor, Ms. Rinky Tandon, Shalomites competed with a diverse and talented community of future scholars with over 4000 participants across 50. Our students brought us esteem by getting recognition and being the top champion scholars from India.

Rishika Arora topped all the scholars standing tall at the 1st position from India and securing the 23rd position as one of the best debaters along with being the topper in all subjects. Kushagr Kapoor stood in the top 45 percent as one of the best debaters in the world and at the 8th position in Collaborative writing. He was recognized for qualifying in the top 15 percent in all subject areas as a Champion scholar across the globe. Their team stood at the 48th position in the world as the top Debating Team. The senior team of Kushagr Kapoor, Rishika Arora  made our school proud by securing the 2nd position in South Asia and ranked 7th in the world. The junior team of Abhishek Chuahan, Aryaman Tyagi and Anshuman Bakshi swept away the 40th position for collaborative writing series. Abhishek Chauhan made it to the top 15 percent being a Champion scholar from India and securing Honour medals in all Subject areas. Aryaman Tyagi secured the 110th position as one of the top debaters, and Anshuman Bakshi won honour medals in all subjects and making it to the top 50 percent in Team Challenge.

On the whole it was a moment of pride to witness Team Shalom bag a total of 76 medals with 64 glittering gold medals and 12 shining silver medals. All the students got individual recognition for their most significant victory in all areas of the competition.

Accolades at the World Scholar’s Cup- Global Round:18th-23rdJune’18

Under the aegis & guidance of Founder and Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Lilly George, our students of Junior and Senior Division participated with full vigour in the World Scholar’s Cup (Global Round) held from18th – 23rd June’18 at Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, based on the theme - ‘AN IMPEREFCT WORLD’.

Trained and groomed by their mentor, Ms. RinkyTandon, our students, oozing confidence, tackled all the team events, like - The Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Challenge and Scholar’s Bowl, with amazing expertise. Our bright orators, from the Junior and Senior Divisions, spoke skillfully in a veritable battle of words on various topics for the Team Debates. All the teams brainstormed their way through a platter of questions and triumphantly got oodles of merit for their winning performance.

It was a proud moment to witness our Stormy Shalomites- mark high sweepstakes of over 260 medals and 1 overall trophy to their stride, breaking all their previous records. They stood out among the crowd of 5000 scholars from 50 countries across the globe, bagging the well-deserved positions for Debating, Collaborative Writing, Challenge and being at the 4th Position in the Senior Division - the only school from India.

Our Senior Division participant, Rishika Arora, made us proud by being the first ever Indian in the history of World Scholar’s Cup to be felicitated as the Scholar of the Year at the Global Round; ours being the only school to achieve this position ever.  Kushagr Kapoor and Rishika Arora together put in their best to stand at the 4th position in South –East Asia and gained recognition in all subject areas for Challenge round along with taking the top fifty positions for debating and Collaborative Writing. Along with them, Pranav Sharma, Dhruv Yadav and Daiyan Pathan swept away the trophy to be the top challenge team and Collaborative Team. Raghav Verma , Abhishek Chauhan and Priyansh Desai took the top 50 positions in Debating and Challenge from over 3000 scholars. Abhishek Chauhan was announced as the Topper of our School. Anshuman Bakshi was recognized as the best writer at the 80th position. Saanidhya Gupta, Yashveer Singh and AryamanTyagi being the youngest of all students in the Junior division took over most of the important positions in the Challenge round, Debate and Collaborative Writing. Tansha Jain and Akshat Saxena were given recognition for their Collaborative Writing and Challenge Round felicitating them for making it in the top 100 positions.

It was a moment of pride to be the flag bearers of India at the Closing ceremony wherein Kushagr Kapoor represented our country.

It was indeed a magical moment witnessing all our teams gloriously sweep the Red Carpet and qualify for the Tournament of Champions Round to be held at the Yale University in November 2018.

International Toppers of Silverzone Olympiad Felicitated With Special Awards

Shalom Hills International School hosted the International -Silver Zone Olympiad competitions for the students. It is a unique platform for the students to test their level of understanding, knowledge and power of reasoning.

SHIS encourages its students to challenge their potential and chisel their proficiencies through the medium of these Olympiads as these competitive examinations benefit the enterprising talents in our country and facilitate the young brains to achieve new horizons.

Out of more than 9000 schools internationally which participated in the Olympiads, SHIS excelled in all subjects and secured many positions in the International Olympiad.

These child prodigies received special prize for their academic performance in English, Hindi, French, Math, Science, Social Science, Informatics, Talent Hunt, General Studies and Reasoning. They were warmly felicitated and blessed by the Founder and Managing Director Dr. (Mrs.) Lilly George.

Shalom Hills International School wins 1st Prize in the 3rd Korea-India Friendship Quiz Competition: 3rd May 2018

Under the aegis and incomparable motivation of our Founder and Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Lilly George, the Shalom students excel in coveted world class competitions which gives them international exposure and greater insight into India's diplomatic ties and bilateral relations with other countries. Groomed and trained by the Quiz In-charge Ms Lopa Mishra, 10 Shalomites of grade IX & X were selected for the 3rd Korea-India Quiz competition 2018, after the initial screening test. Competing in a highly engaging yet challenging Inter-School Quiz Competition which tested their in-depth knowledge of South Korea, they successfully outshone 20,384 students from 60 schools in Levels 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B.

The final round was designed to have audio visuals with buzzer, requiring a deep dive into South Korea’s Foreign relations, Culture, Economy, politics, Government, Language, Cuisine, Society, Tourism, Sports, History and Geography.  The laudable objective behind this challenging Quiz being organized by the Embassy of South Korea is to foster closer India-South Korea relations and broaden children’s knowledge about the bilateral relations between these two countries and at the same time, provide the young students with an opportunity to learn about the South Korean culture.

A. Mohammed Farhaan of Class IX bagged the 1st position in the Quiz competition, winning a free trip to South Korea for 6D/5N worth more than Rs. 2 Lakhs.

Tazeen Ahmed of class XI got a special prize of Samsung washing machine worth more than Rs.35, 000, presented by Mr.Shin Bong – Kii (Ambassador of South Korea to India) and Mr. Kim, Kum-Pyong (Director of Korean Cultural Centre /South Korea).

Shalom Hills students also won audience prizes that were highest among the participant schools.
